I have a question, has anyone left a contract/temp to hire job for a more permanent position? How did you go about that?

Yes I left the temp job with a notification via email to the recruiter and voicemail to the job. A temp job doesn't give you a two week notice when the assignment ends therefore it's a courtesy to just keep it simple when you leave and focus on your permanent job with better benefits..

like

I left my temp job within 3 days of hire because I got a permanent job offer, just let your recruiter know! They also knew I was still applying for full-time permanent positions within my scope.

like

Did you not give a two wewks notice?

like

If it's a contract position you don't get vacation so you don't give notice like that. You should let the recruiter know so he can replace you.

like

Not sure what you are trying to ask

like

Tell no one you’re looking. Get a new job. Find out a start date, give current job two weeks notice, and move on.

like

Just give notice.

like

Happened with me being hired on for a job that paid a bit more literally after I was asked to sign contracts on the exact same day. Wound up burning bridges with the contract company unintentionally as a result.

like

Temp jobs are just that temporary. Adults have full bills monthly and can't guarantee a temp job will be available 6 weeks. They can end the assignment or reduce their budget and they want need you. They're meant to have, until you get a full time job. Companies hire temp jobs to save money, until they hire a full time employee. Some companies have more temporary workers than full time employees . That's makes your temporary job responsible for your benefits, and workers compensation if you get injured.

like

Why is that even a question ?

Yes this kind of stuff happens all the time. You can either ask if they are hiring for a full time role and move into it or you can move to one outside of the organization that you are in.

That's fine, just be sure to be courteous and give notice. You never want to burn bridges. Blessings on your new opportunity.

Yes, I did back in 2019 I had finished my schooling, and was looking for a full-time position and relation to what I went to school for. I gave two weeks notice from my temporary temp job, out of respect for that employer that I was working for at the time.

I don't think the other responders understood your question... Yes, working a contract at Kaiser is a gateway to getting a permanent job there. I did it. Depending upon your expertise niche, usually you would need to stay 2 contracts I believe. Although if you're in ICU, ER or sometimes Home health care, you might be able to do it sooner. You need to be exemplary in your work. After I joined Kaiser, I found out the nurses on staff were making more than I was, had a pension and a 401 k - so 2 other supplements for retirement in addition to regular social security....they made more after retirement than while working! It's good that way.

I did that years ago. Was working agency and though it was a stipulation of the agency that I not hire on to their customer (the hospital), the hospital made “special arrangements” to override that and I began working g directly for the hosptial

Guys,
Need some suggestions.
Currently I am working in TCS Kolkata with 6.8lpa, technology - Exchange 2010 (which is already out of support from Microsoft).
I got an offer from Infosys Bhubaneswar with 9.3lpa, technology: Office 365.
My hometown is Kolkata.
Hybrid model is okay for me if it is Bhubaneswar as my in-laws won't allow me to move to a different city. Problem is opportunities are very less in Kolkata and TCS won't hire ex- employees. Should I switch to Infosys or stay back in TCS..

Looking to move to the Dallas Fort Worth area close to June I’m here to network and see it all would welcome me and help me out during my transition

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
