I have been in the US from Canada on contract for the past 6 months. My fiancé and I were supposed to get married and move here permanently in the fall. She has now called off the wedding, and has told me she doesn’t want me to move to the states. I got a great offer. Great job. Don’t want to lose the love of my life but I feel played. I worked so hard for this. She’s ripping out my heart, and taking my livelihood away. Am I wrong to not abide by her choice? Ask for the ring back?

My wife often calls me by 5:45/6 to ask where I am if I’m not headed home yet. Sometimes she’s stressed with kids/dogs/dinner and really wants me home. This really throws off my concentration because it makes me feel rushed. Like many practices sometimes I’m out at 5:30, other times it’s much later. Just depends and is unpredictable. Any advice on how to approach this?

Do you think using “him/her” for “he/she” (ex: “her is playing” “him not here yet”) is something that kids usually grow out of? Or does it need direct intervention? I have 2 students who exhibit this error, who otherwise should be dismissed. Normally I’d just keep them on and work on it alongside other goals, but they don’t have any other goals, and with COVID, and my upcoming maternity leave in March, a more compact caseload would be advantageous.

Any other ladies get so frustrated by forced family set ups? I swear I only hear from my extended family when it’s about set ups and my marriage status. And usually it’s just them praising the guy and telling me to make it work since I’m getting old (early 30s) 🤦🏽‍♀️

I think my parents need therapy but being Indian parents they don’t believe in therapy. Has anyone had any success in convincing their parents to go? Is it too late because of their age?

What are parents paying for baby sitters these days? Wife and I going out tonight for about 3-4 hours and have a local college student babysitting our toddler daughter tonight. She sent over a sample ceremony (intro, sweet poems + passages to be read, and example vows), and we read through it last night. I was reading it out loud while my fiancé made dinner, and it just hit me that this is really happening. I’m currently an associate (no kids) in a very busy corp group (think 50-60 billable weekly). My wife works significantly less (currently part time, 10-15, but hopefully will be full time soon). Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. - I have curly hair, can only wash it once a week/put dry shampoo if needed
- I brush my teeth 2 times a day
- Wear deodorant / perfume every day (my way, and good girl) and shave off any hair (I did laser but still), as much as possible. Some days, I cannot keep up with shaving (especially if it won’t show)

- I shower my body every day

I am so tired of my sister and mom, and the pressure they apply on me to get married, 32 year old female and I have not met someone yet. It’s my birthday in a few minutes. 2021 has been a terrible year for me. My marriage ended. It wasn’t a bad end though. We are still close, just not romantic partners anymore. The very first dog I ever had died and I couldn’t go see her because of the quarantine. I didn’t get a promotion that I more than deserved. I don’t think I get paid well. One of ex’s friends who is I met twice, has been in touch, him and his wife, like commenting on some of my posts occasionally (we are just fb friends and IG friends). I never saw them since. Then the friend texts asking if I am seeing someone and that he wants to set me up with someone. He felt awkward doing that, I thanked him for thinking of me, but then he said we all told your ex he is an idiot for letting you go and they asked my ex it they could still be touch with me and he said yes.
