It really depends.
When I interviewed for private roles, there were opportunities for 50-60% increase in base because it was in an HCOL area.
I ultimately moved laterally from a regional firm to a larger regional firm that led to an early promotion, totaling a 30% increase in base YoY.
I don't have plans to leave public accounting, but if I did, I wouldn't leave for anything less than Manager. I'm also not willing to sacrifice compensation for less hours at this time.
But you may value things differently than me and there may be a good reason for you to step down in pay or title if it affords you something else that you value more.
that bonus is not guaranteed. unles wlb is way better, never leave for lower salary. always aim for at least 30% raise in salary.

Really depends - covid has changed things. For example, I left public a few years back and went from 70k as an S1 to 90k as an industry senior. Nowadays S1s at my old firm make 80-85k and many exits still pay close to 90k.

Even then... depends on the F25. Tech one? Yes. Healthcare? No
I left Big 4 as an S1 for about 30% increase in base, all in included it looks closer to 55-60%.
What was your title when you came to new firm? And what kind of firm (big 4, MM, regional, etc)
