I honestly don't care about being "passionate" about my work. Is it just me, or is getting paid the whole point?

Jobs are for money. Idgaf about any of it, just paychecks. The level of artifice involved in my work is mind blowing.

I lost my passion for my job when I recognized the unfairness of the playing field and realized it's all just politics.

Though I share the sentiment to a large extent, I recommend caution about going too far down this rabbit hole. Job dissatisfaction sucks. Do everything you can to maintain your innate curiosity about what you do. This has nothing to do with your employer. Work at maintaining some sort of personal interest and/or satisfaction. Burn out is real and loss of 'passion' is one of the 1st symptoms. There is very real value from always becoming better at what you do. Create the goals for your own benefit - not your employers. Sadly loyalty to the employers no longer makes any sense at all, but loyalty to yourself always does.

Building career and passion is one thing but no financial freedom comes from it. OE and target investments.

Also @Developer, if you've ever felt you could use support for either J1/2 projects, meetings, emails, stories, and communications, I can fully handle your project remotely and provide you summarized daily report. You can focus on what matters the most and run OE the longest.

Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.
