I just heard that a work friend was impacted by the latest layoff, and I’ve been debating whether to reach out. Part of me wants to check in and ask if she’s okay, but we haven’t really talked much recently since she’s been remote for months. I don’t want it to feel awkward or like I’m only reaching out because of the layoff, but I also feel like saying nothing might be worse. Would you reach out in this situation, even if you haven’t been close lately?

I don’t think it would hurt to reach out. Most people would appreciate knowing you still care and the thoughtfulness, even if you haven’t talked in a while.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll reach out in a few or so just let everything sink.

She would probably appreciate it

I hope so!!

Negotiation in new offer: I’m moving from fully remote to fully in office (with chance of hybrid later) offer for associate director in quality in pharma for 170k base, 18% bonus and 75k equity. I’ve asked for a sign on bonus as I’m not eligible for annual next year and will be missing my current jobs bonus. I should hear tomorrow (asking for 28k). Thoughts about the offer? Should I ask for more equity or is that standard? They’re public (currently ~$20)should I get the hybrid option in writing?
