I keep getting stumped on the interview question “what is your creative process like?” My answer are usually a bit underwhelming (I spend some time is ideating alone and then reconvene with my partner). Does anyone have any tips on good tips on how to phrase it better?

I also do the whole ideating alone for the first step then coming together with my partner! I usually talk about my love of researching and immersing myself in each brief along with finding brands and campaigns that use similar strategies to create quick idea mood boards. And then I talk about the importance of looking at the problem from my point of view first and coming up with as many ideas as I can before coming together with my partner to see what sticks. I also usually mention that I go through all of my ideas no matter how dumb they might seem to me because someone else could look at it and see it in a different light to create something really cool.

I feel like this question is just asking if you work better with a partner or solo, or what your preference is, especially if they already have a partner picked out for you, or they plan to have you working solo a lot. I always say it depends on the needs of the project and that I do well brainstorming both with a partner and solo.

Try starting with one or two elements that anchor your thinking... Are you thinking about it in terms of problem-solving? Consumer empathy? Award-winning? Novelty in marketplace? Client’s business objective? Speed or volume or accuracy to brief? Pushing client in a new direction?

Starting full-time @ MBB this month. I’m really interested in recruiting growth equity (GE) at some point. I’m pretty familiar with PE recruiting but not sure how growth differs. Anyone have perspective on any of the following: 1- Does GE recruit on cycles? If so what is the typical timing? 2- Are modeling tests standard as part of the interview process? 3- How are consultants perceived in the industry? 4- Do large GE firms utilize headhunters? 5- Do large GE firms have operating roles?

I hate my job so much. It’s like when I’m there I feel like I’m wasting my time like I’m losing money being there. It’s an operations job and quite honestly stayed too long. There are processes where there are 20 things to do just to send the P&L out. It’s such a relic. I am 36 and freaking out because I want to do something new. I’m working 60 hour work weeks because people keep quitting. I’m over it. I’ve been interviewing but just in that waiting period to see what happens. Any advice?

Aside all the usual bumfuckery of this Trump ‘interview’, I’m wondering what the hell happened to Maria Bartiromo? I wonder if she’s disappointed in herself?

My husband told me that he feels parenting our 2 yr old is a burden. He’s actually a great parent and loves our son but hates all the hard work that goes with it (wake ups / getting ready for daycare / sick days / tantrums). Neither of us wants to take a step back in our career to care more time for our son, and we don’t want the other person to either. We’re considering an Au pair, but I’m mourning the fact that we, and especially he, aren’t parents that love parenting. Anyone in the same boat?

Two common phrases that, in our industry, we can never utter when talking to a client - "I don't remember" and "I don't know". It is a strict unspoken rule. Any semblance of incompetence is a major no no.
