Sounds like CPTSD. It’s complex and takes lingering to deal with. Therapy also didn’t work for me, mostly because I couldn’t take myself out of the same environment that causes the trauma.
Are you in the same environment? What do you think is causing your pain? Is it memories or daily triggers?
Thanks! CPTSD def makes sense. Def some form of PTSD. The triggers have gotten less over the years & fortunately not daily or environment related. Most just memories, especially on very hard days, which make the hard days harder. Hope you’re doing better & thanks for sharing!
Consider Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). It’s based on principles from Buddhism, meditation, and other teachings consistent with South Asian philosophies. DBT-PE (Prolonged Exposure) is an advanced protocol for those with trauma
Therapists unfortunately lack diversity, and often are not trauma-informed. I’m also South Asian and have also struggled to find the right fit. But I would advise not settling and continuing to search for treatment.
Are you seeing a Clinical Psychologist versus a Licensed Therapist? My first foray into therapy was with the latter - “talk therapy”. I switched to a CP and have been diagnosed with GAD and PDD and have a treatment plan (not drugs). World of difference between the two.
I can give you the name of a fantastic psychiatrist
She works with a lot of finance people.
Insurance or self pay?
Curious if maybe EMDR might work for you (as well as me)
These things take time. The answer to improving your life (start hobbies, create boundaries, etc.) is simple to understand, but difficult to implement. Consistently hearing the same messages from therapists may help you eventually turn those things into reality.
THE ONLY THING THAT WILL SAVE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS TO BE TRUE TO YOURSELF, STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, AVENGE YOURSELF AND PROMOTE #DEMOCRACYATWORK
I’M HERE IF YOU NEED TO TALK.
Yes but you have to find the right therapist. Tried CBT first and hated it so moved on. Next one was more Freudian and psychoanalysis, I think that’s the right way to describe. Even then still took couple of years but it really has change my life for better.
