Hey guy, I have this book out. Wondering if you could help me spread the word. It teaches you how to write KPI’s for an IDB perspective. I am in the market to switch career back to my original so I am open to assist especially non-profits address their data issues. Anyway guys if interested send me a DM. https://www.amazon.com/Key-Performance-Indicator-Development-Guide/dp/B0B5K9W5JC

Use it as an opportunity to educate everyone about Juneteenth. What it is, why it’s significant, etc.
Do you think it had significance outside of one town in TX?
What do you do for July 4?
But one is celebrating no longer being enslaved years after the actual decree and the other is about government. They are not the same. While freedom may be centered in both we have to remember it's the people who want to have parades were the same people keeping people in captivity. https://www.blackpast.org/african-american-history/speeches-african-american-history/1852-frederick-douglass-what-slave-fourth-july/
I think you need to be careful with the educational aspect. If I were celebrating "my" holiday for a long time while everyone else went on like it didn't exist, I sure wouldn't need or want my workplace to educate me on said holiday.
And the who educates and how they are deemed qualified is always a question.
I would offer information "If you were wondering" or "FAQ" but making anything a chore or something people have to do? Avoid that or even the feel of that.
Instead of a pot luck hire a local Black own company to provide the lunch. I'm addition to the educational pieces
Maybe don’t go to work? Is it not a holiday at your company? If so make it a no meeting day or silent observance. While Black history is American history, we are not reminding people why we celebrate the 4th of July.
If there’s an office of DEI then have them send out a short email about the significance but you will likely get complaints.
Our company gives us the day off
My company hosted a potluck last year and some idiot thought it was a good idea to bring in watermelon and KFC fried chicken. Absolutely made me sick!!! Some POC employees were visibly shaken and others were crying.
I reported him to HR and they fired him the next day.
The chicken and watermelon was delicious though...
