I know this sounds silly given it’s my job, but are there any good advertising account management specific books out there?

“The Art of Client Service” by Robert Solomon is a really good guide to account management. Good tips in quick-read chapters

Not silly at all. Read, “how to write a killer brief” by Lynette Xanders. It’s all about inspiring a creative team (and really your whole extended team) which I think is an important part of our role as account leads.

It's not necessarily account management specific, but I've found "Creativity Inc" really beneficial as an account manager. It's written by the CEO of Pixar and is about how to foster a culture of creativity from a more managerial perspective.

like

“How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. I wish my Account Director read this. It’s not specific to advertising, but it’s incredibly applicable.

How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Hi guys, I got an offer from x and i discussed that with my current. At 1st current said they can only give 30% increment. I said I can't stay with this cause i got 70% and expect at least 50%(as the 70% included VP and the current org don't have vp, they have bonus). Then they said they can do max 45%. I really wanted to stay here so I said okay to current. Then now hr called me and said they are matching the offer(no vp). What should I make out of it? What made them change their mind?

I’m pretty passive when I’m disrespected by creative but I think it sets a bad example for my team. If any of my reports were spoken to the way I was I’d raise hell...how set example?

Is there such a thing as getting promoted TOO quickly? Just got the bump to AS after 10 months as an AE. Not at all typical at my agency (usually 5 to 8 YOE). I picked up a lot of opportunity after turnover last year. I am, of course, thrilled, but do wonder if it'd put the validity of my agency in question when looking at my resume. Am I crazy? I'm probably crazy.
