I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. Is it any surprise we’re seeing mass layoff in tech? Years of rich friends hiring rich friends with no work ethic has lead us here. I know way too many tech people who work maybe an hour a day followed by errands and traveling. A lot of getting in these places is who you know, apparently that doesn’t work out like it used to. The amount of people who worked for Meta, Apple, Amazon, etc for a few months / maybe a year is astounding. it’s around that time frame a boss can tell if you’re worth it

I just heard recently that if you refinance and your house appraises at 20% more than the amount owed, you can remove PMI. Is this correct? Getting a divorce and trying to keep the house but moving from a VA to a traditional loan and would rather not pay PMI if I don’t have to. House was purchased for $460k no money down (VA loan), refinanced at $450k to lower payments $400/month, now have $430k left on the loan... would it have to appraise for $516k?

I have issues “delegating” or simply assigning tasks, which as a Manager is a whole thing. Like I feel “bad” asking my people to do things that i know i can do but shouldn’t because it’s not up to me. When I assign a task i try to be super clear with instructions, give examples, help them get started…but I still feel bad. Idk. Anyone goes through this?
