What is your current comp number? You would have to consider the % increase of what you were at to where you be. It is easy to feel that you are worth 70K, but if you had a 20% bump to reach 62,150. I would say try pushing the envelop a little more to 68k and not 70K.
However, if you are only gaining a 5% bump and it lands you at 62,150. You could go ahead and widen your range to 72K and nego downwards.
Currently, I'm hourly at $26.90, so the first offer is around 10% and the offer letter doesn't mention other compensation like quarterly bonuses or a raise schedule.
I just negotiated 20% over the offer which was already outside of their range. Don't undervalue yourself.
Just counter with the 71k and if they ask reference info you learned during the interviews that make you worth that. They will say no and give you something in between if they really don't agree. You'll get more than what you were offered either way.
Only say based on the scope and your experience you'd be more comfortable with 71k. Let them ask why if they have a problem with that

Actually just reread. Today's market can be different from historical. If you learned what the range was ahead of time, then use that. Glassdoor is historical. They may be willing to pay more. Ask for 78k
That's a fair point, the last update for this position was in April. They haven't even updated who our CEO is on glassdoor. Shooting a little higher might be the move. Thanks!
I’d ask for $75k

I would use a ballpark range with a % to start the negotiation! I think that is totally a reasonable request and range given your experiences
