I recently developed binge eating disorder over the last few years - with Covid and everything else going on I used food as a coping mechanism. Now things are more back to normal I’m still struggling with it - especially when I have a bad day at work or other stressors. Anyone else struggle with this and how did you overcome it? I’m trying to lose a few pounds for my upcoming wedding and I feel like I keep sabotaging myself. Thanks in advance!

Ive suffered with bulimia/binge eating years & finally got treatment for it. Ever since eating intuitively i have not binged. I am not eating all super healthy but having what i want in moderation asking with more nutrient dense foods. The lack of restriction has allowed me to be ok with eating foods i used to consider forbidden or bad without guilt & therefore my desire to binge is not as strong. My ED stemmed from yoyo dieting my entire adult life. Diet mentality is not sustainable & was the root cause for my relationship with food.

Id encourage you to read the intuitive during book. Also the Recovery app is a good free tool that actually has tools to help you cope with these behaviors. & look into DBT with a therapist.

I second what SA1 said. I had BED for years also stemming from dieting/restriction. I worked with an intuitive eating trained dietician and therapist. If you can’t work with someone like that, I encourage you to get the Intuitive Eating book and workbook. You may not want to hear this, but your efforts to lose a few pounds are probably triggering the binge, so I would stop trying to do that and accept your current size for the time being.

I would encourage you to check out Isabel Foxen duke- stop fighting food. Her master class changed my life- I learned my binging was completely because of restriction - and when u hear restriction u may think “I don’t restrict” but go check out Isabel you’ll be shocked

Binging only exists with the presence of restriction. Your body is telling you that it’s not meant to be smaller. So, you trying to lose weight is the reason you’re binging! I know, sounds insane in this diet culture world we live in! But I assure you I am fully 100% recovered from binge eating disorder after learning the actual science behind weight!

Anyone in this group from Canada? How did you all manage to get medication if CBT didn’t work for you? I have tried everything but my family doctor says that she or psychologists aren’t allowed to give prescription and only psychiatrists can. I cant seem to find any directly or through referral 😣

I went to the lease this last weekend. Not one drop of alcohol was had. That was the closest I’ve come to caving. 4 wheelers, killing dinner with big guns, doing manly things in God’s country. Beer is an absolute necessity during these events. Anyhow, I didn’t drink. Proud of myself. Monumental moment for me.

Can provide more details if needed, but if an employee is constantly coughing at work (small retail establishment), is it okay to ask them for a doctor's note stating they aren't contagious? They're claiming it's due to allergies, but I've gotten several confidential concerns from employees and customers alike due to the current enviornment.

Salam. 23M here - all my life I’ve had my back on our faith - never really prayed but had imaan (I guess). After bouts of depression from girl problems (🙄), issues within immediate family, being disappointed expectations I had for myself, etc. I’ve been working on bettering my situation over the years. Faith is the only area where I think I need more guidance. Having trouble relating to friends or family about this. Anyone else been thru something similar? How have you connected back to Islam?
