I recently interviewed with one of the big banks on a whim, and was shocked getting an offer and not sure what direction to head in. The position would be part of their IT Internal Audit group. The comp would be $120k, Meanwhile I’m still waiting for my raise at KPMG as a S1 and don’t know what it look like. Is it a no brainer to jump? Or am I just trading my good team and decent hours to be miserable for 20k more?
Why were you looking for a new job? That should be what's guiding this decision
I like to see what the market is like, and keep myself open to new opportunities. A recruiter reached out and had a bank position, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to brush up on my interview skills and see. Basically the reason I’d take a new job is for pay and a better company/industry. But at KPMG I am happy with my team and hours, and not dying to leave.
I recently got screened by KPMG and they told me their range for IA seniors is between $100-$120k. I’d jump unless you’re expecting to be towards the top
I was an IA senior for 3 years and the range was 80 to 100. Also had to interview and use an offer to get close to 100, or else would have been high 80s as S2
There’s always risk in taking a new position. But if your team and hours are good you may just want to stick it out till you make manager. Your exit options and your marketability will jump to a different league

I don’t know what the S1 raise is going to be exactly, but I’m guessing it would be around 100-105k. I won’t find out for a few more weeks.
I don’t think your raise at kpmg will be to 120. Depends what you are looking for.
