I recently joined Capgemini as a Data Engineer in a B2 Consultant role. I have a few doubts:

1. Do you have any idea about the bench policy for new joiners?
2. Within how many days do we have to find a project?
3. What happens if we do not clear the client interview for a project? Will they assign another project opportunity?

Anyone else absolutely *loathe* being assigned new client matters at the end of the month when you know your billable time won’t count bc conflicts haven’t cleared yet? Just me?

Is there anyone on here who’s switched sides - from defense to plaintiff - and can speak to their experience / general things to think about? I’ve just moved and gone on/going through multiple interview rounds with a big defense firm and a plaintiffs firm doing high verdict litigation (established enough to pay pretty good associate salaries). Not trying to jinx myself before any offers, but I’ve really liked the people at both firms and want to take my time to consider all angles (cont)

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!

Very specific to retail and/or hospitality in-house roles: has anyone found a good solution for predictive scheduling? Our retail division has one set of software for scheduling and one for payroll, and neither of them can handle predictive scheduling compliance issues unless they’re used for both the scheduling and payroll functions. I work at a medical device manufacturing plant as a training coordinator, I have a military background and a degree and am trying to advance but am feeling stuck. I am a literal jack of all trades, and am trying to get out of the hourly life, I’m working an average of 100 hour weeks and have been for at least the last 6 months.

For those of you who got out at 10, do you wish that you rode it out to 20? I’m at a crossroad and I’m not sure what to do. Have some active/reserve time, wrapping up graduate school, and am now considering either a) come back to the business world or b) go active and retire before 50 and live off a nice pension. Obviously there are draws to both. I’m an officer for what it’s worth so I can realistically retire at O-5, MAYBE O-6.
