Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

do a day rate based off at least $100/hr
Get off hourly and charge a day rate of $800 - $1,000 depending on your experience and time spent as a Producer. No nickel and diming on day rates. Plus you will make a lot more coin.
100-110/hr feels reasonable to me
You’re charging what I’m charging and I have 4 years of experience
$100 a hour. Do not charge less than that. You will face consequences in perceived competency if you do.
I’ve heard of $70 in Minneapolis - Nicest people though and good repeat business for many. They just don’t pay a lot and have great local resources to draw from. Big design town.
My minimum rate for subcontractors is $80, so I’d definitely say you’re under-charging. Sub rates are less because we’re taking on the cost of sales.
If you’re taking on the burden of sales, take your desired annual earnings, add 25-50% for taxes, expenses, and downtime, and then divide by 2080 to get an estimated hourly rate.
That said, I would definitely echo the others’ comments on day rates and 100+. Under-charging hurts you and your competitors alike.
