I recently received a rejection email for an AI evaluation role that was surprisingly detailed and thoughtful. The feedback acknowledged my reasoning, consistency, and approach, but the decision came down to a very specific team fit in a highly competitive process. Even though I did not get the role, the clarity made the outcome easier to understand.
Why are thoughtful rejection responses still so rare in hiring today?

Thoughtful rejection responses cost time and hence money, and in this hyper competitive job market employers are simply not interested in spending time on people they don't care about. Their only mission is to recruit the right people that will make them money, not make you feel better about why they rejected you.

I get that companies aren't in the feelings business. But a little clarity doesn't cost much and can save candidates from spinning their wheels.
