If someone shoots me, the problem isn’t that I recognized harm. The problem is that someone shot me. If acknowledging injustice is a “victim mentality,” then the entire concept of justice wouldn’t exist. The idea that people who have been oppressed, and yet still lived, survived, and even excelled despite wrongs done to them and their ancestors, are inherently lazy is just racism. The real disconnect is that many people still refuse to acknowledge the harm in the first place.
You can have an injustice done to you and still take accountability in your life and take action to improve it. Both things can be true. The main problem with playing victim is not taking any action on your end. Getting reparations doesn’t mean you aren’t taking accountability for your situation.
social justice is anathema to me and many these days. What initially looked good on paper has created the victim mindset. It refreshing to see meritocracy being the main driver now, but all those that paid a price for this false dogma.
Victim mindset is a SUPER convenient way to say "I don't want to believe there is an issue. So let's pretend most people just like to be trapped in bad situations to avoid responsibility."
Critical thinking is really hard

Holding someone accountable for their own behavior towards others would align more with social justice
