For 2021? Max was increased to $10,500, so you should actually be good.

I feel like OP isn’t worried about exceeding a legal limit, it more that they accidentally contributed twice as much as they meant to, and now can’t spend the excess and thus would lose what they didn’t spend.
If that’s right, OP, I can’t help you unfortunately. You could call the IRS or ask the FSA administrator, but my bet is no, you can’t take it out. It sounds like you made an honest mistake, but consider how easily it would be abused if they just let everyone call in December and say “oops, I ‘accidentally’ contributed too much, and by golly would you look at that, by exactly the amount I have not spent yet! Can I get it back pretty please?’”
Don’t get me wrong; I think the US healthcare system is an utter dumpster fire so the very notion of an FSA offends me, but dealing with what we’re given, the whole point is that you get the tax benefit in exchange for taking some risk of loss.
Buy a whole bunch of large items. Like expensive baby monitors and return at Costco for store credit.
