To the nameless McKinsey EM on this bowl who told me exactly 7 months ago that I being a manager at KPMG have no chance of making it to McKinsey even as an associate because of KPMG and I don’t have “real strategy” experience….I know you are are still here and hopefully reading this. I just accepted my offer at McK as EM and wanted to say….HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?

I think the best seniors are the ones that actually care about their staff cuz it makes the staff a lot more motivated and willing to do what you ask when you treat them well and when they know that you're not making them work just because you want to
You da real MVP
Your staff? You are staff…
Really SIA1 and EY 1?.. smh.. haters. Anywho.. To OP.. it is part of the job. I am sure they know you hate asking them. It makes you a good senior. Get them coffee, soda and candy and they will be good. If you atay along with them working, they will see you are willing to put in the same hours they do and it should easy the sting.
STA1, any time really. I know we all did it/do it ourselves during busy season, but I really hate to be the "bad guy"
Someone has to do the work!
I'm confused how are u a good senior if you're asking your staff to work the weekend? Lmao
Caring is what makes you a good senior. Asking your staff to work isn't not caring about them. Not taking the time to help them grow is not caring. You've gotta expect people to work. You can't expect to not support them in it.
You mean during nonbusy season?
If you aren't asking, someone else is
You'll get over it
I bet senior internal auditor loves to be the bad guy lol
Thank you to those of you who provided thoughtful responses.. feeling a little better about it now ☺️
The only time I get annoyed at my Senior for asking me to work late/over the weekend is when they turn around and leave early and spend the weekend off, come back on Monday, and get annoyed that something isn't done perfectly when they weren't around to ask any questions of so we *could* get it perfect.
I think asking staff to stay late and work weekends is totally fine... as long as you are doing the same!
