I took a pay cut to leave my past job because i was miserable. It’s fine and yes money is important but my well being was my priority.

Can't put a price tag on mental well being. I think you made the right decision and I would do the exact same thing. Glad for you that things are looking better in the new role!

This take major courage and I applaud you for putting your wellbeing first. Take the time you need and jump in whenever you're ready. Work will always be there!

Amen! I stepped down from management and went back to bartending for a very similar reason and I don't regret it for a second. Money means nothing when you don't have peace of mind.

I wish I was in a position to make this stand myself. My hours have been ridiculous lately and leave me with no time or energy for myself outside of work. I'll leave the second I find something better, but I literally cannot afford to take a paycut right now. Good on you for prioritizing your mental health. That's not easy to do, but it's so important.

Taking a pay cut is a brave move to make, and you deserve credit for doing it. I always feel like sometimes you have to take a step back to take a few steps forward. And if it's an issue like your own well being you have to do what's right.

Kudos for you to take your mental health first! If I could afford it, I would too - except that I really need the cash now so just sucking it up. One day I will quit this madness and retire!

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?
