1st apply for sabbatical, after that if you think you have what is takes then resign and prepare. Upsc preparation is impossible with parallel job.
Do deloitte, PwC and other MNCs provide sabbatical?

Resign right now. I can see your future, something special is planned for u , but God will not support u until u show that u deserve it, u have to take risk and give sacrifice. Be a man, and give yr best shot , money, job all will come back but this time won't. One short life, if u dont jump now yr soul will die from regret and u will not achieve your true form, and this birth of yours will be a waste.
I'm sorry but this is the most imprudent advice I've heard.
Typically this is how our ancestors were in the middle ages, they believed to be peaceful and disarmed themselves like fools. Never innovated for their security. And the end result was slavery to this day.
This type of thinking must not be encouraged, if not punishable. This is classic criminal negligence in thinking.
My honest suggestion - if you have a track record of being in top 15 in any other state or national level exams then you have pretty good chances of making it past upsc in less than 2/3 attempts.
Else. If you are trying for the 1st time then DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. You won't make it. Upsc required high level of aptitude, memorization and consistent hard work.
Out of all my friends who tried upsc none of made it yexpect for one, because he stood rank 1 at school, college and at medicine MD. That too he made it in the 2nd attempt. Competition is extreme and even the best of the best fail.
Unless you have proven track record. Don't do it. You'll waste your time and energy for nothing.
That is pretty good. Gate 1000 rank is very good too. You may have the potential to crack upsc.
I would suggest to not quit your job, instead find avenues to get more time, if it means to switch to a company where work is less.
After 1st or 2nd attempt you don't make it, then quit job, go double down on your preparation and take the exam.
The whole idea here is to have a backup plan if upsc doesn't work out.
All the best to you man. I wish you come out with flying colors.
Bro ye upsc wagerah chhodo job me man lgao ek din ksi company k ceo bnke retire hoge. Upsc me quota ko koske kai jawaani k saal kharab kroge. Also, I have heard interview round me kai lakh dne pdte hn to get through.
@OP currently I have 11 Yoe ..doing MA in sociology as well as at US onsite...I have earlier cleared few govt jobs like SSC SBI po ibps PO..but I never planned to joined them.. reason of not joining was different for each job..like all India postings..low salary..bad work environment..targets like selling insurance..
reason for preparing for civil services and too specifically PCS is home state.. respect.. ability to help the underprivileged..I know work environment there too will not be good..but as we grow..these challenges increase in any sector..it is tuf here in IT too after 15-20 YOE
Reason I am planning this after 2 3 years is that I shud be financially stable and not miss my decreased salary alot
Resign and prepare. As upsc demands sacrifices but if you crack it's worth all the sacrifices
Hi bro, i was in your position. what i would suggest is its okay to take a couple of yrs break to prepare and attempt . post that its better to work n give attempts, as the basics would be strong and u would be focusing on daily current affairs only.
there is a lot of uncertainty and insecurity that might arise after a couple of failed attempts. tats y it would be wise to work n give attempts..you will have financial stability also... i took a long break and have mentioned abt l it in my resume too, trust me nobody will judge you.
but dont b afraid. go ahead n give ur best.
Just give yourself limited time bro. Decide it to attempt it for 3 times. If you get selected well and good else you already have an experience now. Will not be so difficult to get back. You can always take the reversible decisions immediately
explore the sabbatical option taking admission in any tier 3 college.. thats the safest option..
my 2 cents wud be resign only after you have covered the syllabus.. otherwise ur 1.5 years wud be gone in covering basica only
Never leave your job. My friend did same . Now after 6 years gap. No able to rejoin. So job ke sath kro prep.
With job it becomes hectic as I mentioned inconsistency.
Prepare for 6 months along with job cover basics and familiar with syllabus, decide your optional then you can leave the job for the full time preparation
Govt. never give you 30-40 LPA...Private company will
PwC1 Yeah that's true. On monetary aspect, Private employees are way ahead. These packages are not possible in Govt jobs but then not all the corporate employees earn that much. There are some aspects of govt jobs as well in form of work life balance, job security, time for family and social interactions.
But If asked in General, Private employees would live a lavish life while govt employees would live decent if we compare both .
I m 24 and in a similar situation. I have decided to first prepare along with job in order to be familiar with syllabus and all, most probably will leave job around May next year. Aiming for 2024 exam.
No
One of my friend take one year break, and cleared in first attempt
