Amex people thoughts on this offer, as I have recently(4 months back) joined a startup with Base(33) and CTC(35.5) but not enjoying the work here. Amex brand tag and culture is good.
Hence, considering the offer, does this offer look good or is there any scope of improvement? Amex American Express

Try for program manager role. Once you get in try to pivot into product manager role. Better paid, more strategic and better growth opportunities.

It’s doable but it’s not easy, you can’t do a 20% project until you hit the 1 gear mark; you need great performance ratings and your manager has to approve (most will). Next step you need to interview for it and you’ll will be up against other google talk. Youll go through the same process as if you were an external hire so you’ll be probed about knowledge and prior experience. If you’re accepted it’s no guarantee of a full time role afterwards, some teams may just need an extra hand in a project, meanwhile others consider it an audition for the role. Then you need to put in for the transfer. So all in, including the time you need to wait it can be a 1.5 - 2 year process. And you’ll likely be downleveled (most people are unless you’re exceptional). Not a bad thing, but definitely something to consider if you’re trying to make that jump. It’s hard because like I said, PM is the hottest thing in tech right now and google is LOADED with qualified people all competing for it.

PgM manages the roll up of projects within a named client. You do a lot of managing communications to steering/exec committees, building out roadmaps and timelines, helping with growth strategy for future google ops, and doing some GTM stuff for products in your client. It’s relative to your program though, some programs they’re just glorified project managers, others I’ve seen PgMs play the role a principal would play.
Absolutely get a referral if you can, from someone you know and can attest to your work.
