Have some inputs, take what resonates, ignore the rest.
Projects, your leadership and your team is all context specific and can change and you'll need to find your mgmt style which you can flex based on the situation. Some folks are laissez faire, some are micromanagerial, both styles have a time and place for it.
Find ways to build trust within your team, create a safe space for people to voice their concerns and equip them with the guidance and resources they need to be successful. Some resources need more hand holding, some thrive on less. Over time you'll build followership and naturally emerge as a leader.
Find ways to add value/contribute to your upper management and make yourself indispensable to them in some ways. You want to build a rep for specific skills, whatever your strengths are. Could be solution architecture, running super complicated deployments, or driving design sessions sales pursuits etc. You'll need PPMD support to grow upwards and you'll need a strong team to backfill your role for succession planning as you outgrow your current responsibilities and aspire for more.
Thank you!
What got you here will not get you there. Great book

Not sure about top down view, but from bottom up:
Make time to chat with your team members 1:1, not just for 1:1s but even before a client call or customer escalation to sync up (if your team member asks you to). Understanding their perspective, answering their questions and empowering them to do well on the call (without you needing to jump in so you can stay a fly on the wall listening) are how people feel supported. Having a progression plan for how they can move up to the next level and discussing that on 1:1s. These 2 plus genuinely being a nice person to be around, who understands WLB needs and is personable, are the 3 things folks look for in a good manager.

Structure a plan to include work streak objectives and success criteria, set realistic expectations for your staff, plan ahead what you should delegate, and set aside review time..I’m just a senior though so what do I know lok
Spend some time to define what a "strong manager" is, and run that by some colleagues at, above and below manager level. Enhance the definition with the feedback. Then rate yourself according to that definition to see where you need to grow.
Don’t have advice but right there with you. Just made manager and it’s definitely a hard transition.
What are the responsibilities of a manager at big 4? What makes you feel weak?
