I was in the mortgage industry as a underwriter in my previous roles, I’m looking to switch into BA and FA roles but I’m currently having a hard time fitting my duties into BA roles. Does anyone have any suggestions/ advise please? I have experience in reporting, data analysis, SQL & excel. TIA

I’m working a internal consulting type of cost engineer role and is seems like a good position to gain skills in that could apply to becoming a PM in the future. I have also worked in design engineering and engineering analysis roles. Have a BS in mechanical engineering and a MS in Data Analytics Engineering.

For the people who went back to school to pursue a totally different career, what did you do for work? I don’t think I’d be able to do both my current job and school. I did retail in college and that probably isn’t so smart right now. Neither is working at a restaurant. I don’t think I can go back and live with my parents. I feel like I’m stuck.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Looking for some advice on a career change. I work in a technical role and have well-developed soft skills. I want to transition to UX (w/ focus on accessibility). There are a lot of UX educational programs out there, some very new, e.g. Dribbble, and costs are all over the place - General Assembly is $15k (and full-time), CareerFoundry almost $8k, and then many others at a fraction of the price. Reviews also vary wildly. Are these more expensive programs worth the huge increase in cost?

Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.
