“Tone policing is defined as "a conversational tactic that dismisses the ideas being communicated when they are perceived to be delivered in an angry, frustrated, sad, fearful, or otherwise emotionally charged manner." Managers striving to create a workplace based on equity and inclusion must understand how tone policing silences members of marginalized groups and allows discrimination to persist.” https://www-businessinsider-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.businessinsider.com/how-to-identify-and-help-stop-tone-policing-in-workplace-2020-8?amp

Okay, so you're currently sacked. You've got an audience. Pitch the crowd, let's see if we can get you a meaningful referral and some mentoring somewhere.
I'm going to DM you
Op - with CPQ and CRM, plus functional based consulting - sounds like you should consider several options.
1. With the CPQ background - Pros or Aptus might be a consideration.
2. Similarly, with the functional requirements gathering necessary for the CPQ side of things - maybe joining a management consulting firm as a technical BA to help with process mapping and transformation projects. Once you get settled there - grow as a PM / prog Mgr or move into a service line for specialization.
3. Segway into salesforce. So much demand out there - get the SF admin cert and spend, join any of the consulting practices and leverage your coding skills to become a Salesforce guru and apex developer. The market demand for these people right now is insane - as is the pay.
Last - find the right company, managers, leaders that fit your style. Don’t join a company because of a company name - join because it’s the perfect fit for you. You find that marriage - you’ll have success and career stability for years.
Glad to help as well - feel free to DM me.
OP, I’m sorry to hear that. Let me know if you’re interested in transitioning to industry. I can help with interview prep
Are you taking the right roles? Are you being upfront about your skills? The way you describe your skills is very broad - you may need to focus on one specific thing
M2 - email me at fishburner2281@gmail.com
Went through that transition myself, so would love to understand what the situation is. I've been Big4 as well as boutique, and realize that a lot of consulting firms hire by convincing there is potential, but end up staffing to roles that meet the firm's needs, not yours. Was there anything the poor reviews had in common?
OP- a lot of things in consulting depending on being at the right place at the right time. It does not always reflect on your ability to do the job. Take a break and try out an industry role (I switched recently myself).
Sorry to hear that op. Wanna talk about it?
M1 - My focus thus far in my career has been in CPQ with some CRM work as well. I would say my strengths lie within management and functional consulting, but I have some experience in technical work (ie coding), project management, and sales engineering. Ive worked with companies in a wide variety of industries.
OP, might as well be candid, we all know you got fired. So try and pitch yourself. Where do you kick ass? What makes you want to get up and tackle a day?
OP update your app pls
This thread makes me feel extremely good about humanity. Way to go team 👊🏻
They are going to be cutting more and coaches aren't aware. OP, try not to take too personally. Meetings are happening this week with partners and HR going through team lists to identify specific number of folks to let go.
M3, may want to reach out to OP's burner and see what comes of it.
Sorry to hear that. While this obviously sucks, take time also to practice gratitude for what you have going for you, which I’m sure is plenty. Good luck!
Firm believer that these experiences while painful help lead you to the career path you were meant to have It just takes time. Agree with other poster about finding a mentor. Also find a boss you like and trust, not just a company with a brand name
@OP I was laid off by Accenture a few years back and ended up at MBB 6 months later, I know someone who was laid off by MBB and ended up at Google
Keep your head up, hopes ups, work hard and play to your strengths ;)
How?! Recently got laid off by Accenture
Big 4 are all alike.
Accenture and ibm are different.
Gove acn and ibm a shot
M1 - My interests lie more on solving business problems with technology. I enjoy design, requirements gathering, vendor selection, etc more than ive enjoyed the technical parts.
Are you based in Chicago by chance OP?
M2 - I'm based in Chicago.
