Okay, so you're currently sacked. You've got an audience. Pitch the crowd, let's see if we can get you a meaningful referral and some mentoring somewhere.
I'm going to DM you

Shit happens...there are so many other careers out there...invest your time on understanding your strength and look for an industry career that can leverage that
Like fired for cause or laid off due to lack of work? Because one is much easier to explain than the other.
Digital 1 - I don't think it's the high expectations exactly. Ive always been a hard worker and a high achiever, which is why this is so frustrating. My biggest takeaway is that I think I need more guidance and structure in my career.
I love the support and positivity in this thread. Good luck OP!
I'm overwhelmed with the support ive received here. Consulting can definitely feel lonely - it has definitely felt that way for the past 18 months or so - but it has felt a little less lonely since I've posted here 😊 Thank you all
OP, did you get PIP'd first? It's extremely unusual to hear about people being shown the door spontaneously without extensive bench time or something egregious.
Love the support here! Great feeling.
Manager 1 is right. You need a mentor. Dust yourself off. You’ll be back in the game soon enough
A1 - first company let me go after 5 months because I was utilized at 17% for me first 3 months at the firm. Second was due to poor performance. I was aware I had a couple bad reviews but I had average/ above average ones as well. My coach told me just last week I was not a low performer. I also spent 90% of my time on internal projects at job #2
Also, in hindsight, I was probably brought in at a higher level at job #2 than I was capable of.
M2 and M3 - just got your emails, thanks! 😊
Wow, this thread is amazing. All the best to you, OP!
I truly hope you find the right place that will recognize your potential and give you the structure and guidance you seek.
I went through something similar and have come out of it stronger. This is another experience for you that you can hopefully reflect positively on moving forward.
Special shoutout to M2 and M3!
M1 - I was not PIP'd. In fact, I was specifically told I was not a low performer the week before. I was on the bench for 4 weeks but I was told I was going on a new project starting monday, which would have been my first long term project.
If I can figure out how to...
Sorry to hear that! I hope you find something quickly that you enjoy and in which you excel.
Thanks for the advice everyone. How do you think I should go about reflecting on my own strengths? I feel like i'm decent in a good amount of things but I don't feel like I understand the things that set me apart. I'm all ears.
Also worth noting that i'm a part time MBA student and a former college athlete. My biggest weaknesses would be that I need a structured environment and it usually takes me a bit longer to grow comfortable in a role/ environment and most clearly given my past two failures.
