Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?
Many thanks in advance

I mean, I think that the cons will be typical cons of sales. Difficulty with the current sales market, long hours.. You might want to talk to other sales reps at New York Life about what their actual commissions look like. Would you be happy enough if you only made the base pay? I think it's a rough sales market right now so just be prepared that commissions might be few and far between.
I’ve worked as an all commissions sales rep for the past 3 years and been moderately successful throughout my career. This would be the first time I would have a base salary, and since I’m a licensed insurance producer already I know I will be making sales. I guess my main concern is with lead sourcing. They way they described how they would position me to obtain the clients sounded like a great fit for me, I just want to make sure it’s all legit and is as advertised
new york life offers a base??? since when
NYL doesn’t offer a base.
Sales is always a numbers game. It just really depends on your competitiveness of being top performer if you thrive on it or not. Best sales roles are uncapped commission regardless on how low the % starts at.
From the 10+ years of experience from SME from b2b, b2c, it's always better to be consistent in reaching your Targets than excelling 1 week and not the next. Be humble, don't sell the customer, be upfront and tell them straight how much it will save them long term at the same time how much it will help them ROI short term. You will gain a following, support your clients and they will support you.
I was offered the base directly by the manager and he offered to bring me in person to check out everything. I appreciate the input, hopefully I’ll be able to find someone who works there. The role is as a financial advisor with a 1 year road to management - at least that’s how it was laid out to me
Get the base in writing. Also if you don’t sell the base in product do you have to pay it back?
Potential con: how you feel about the ethics of what you're selling. I think some products like whole life insurance are almost scams, others (unnecessarily expensive mutual funds and ETFs) are poor value products, and both of these prey on people who trust you. You haven't mentioned exactly what you're selling, so maybe it isn't this stuff, but if it is, please do some research and see how you'd feel about these things.
I work on 100% commish some days I wish I earned a salary, working 9hours and not making a sale is exhausting but let me tell you when I do make a sale and usually its more than one in a day, I earn around 800-2000 for the day
that's a great job+salary
If I was you I would accept the job only on this terms as California and fedral taxes take roughly 46% of that pay negotiation for higher pay
