I am a commission only PI Attorney in a huge PI market. I get a straight 20% of the total fees I bring in, and it graduates upwards after 1.5 million in fees. I did 500K in fees my first year at this firm, and made a little over 100K (personal referrals pay out 40%). I don’t know any firm that would pay you 200K for 500K in fees, especially in a smaller market.
What’s your base? If it’s under $100k, I’d say between 6-10% commission as a non partner.
Yes. Base is $80,000. Thank you for your response.
I’m with a firm that is primarily defense but we do a fair amount of plaintiff work. Either way, if you have $500k in fees I’d expect total compensation to be in the range of $200k assuming you worked those cases to get the recovery.
Thank you so much. Yes I handle the cases from intake to settlement/judgment.
Now the tricky part - initiating the conversation with the partners.
Sorry to hijack your thread, but where in NH? I'm planning a move out there. I also work in PI. Seems like the market is pretty slow job wise these days.
Today I learned that New Hampshire has a sea coast. Wow
