Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Or what moves I should be thinking about making, upward mobility in this role seems like a fairly long game overall
Can you elaborate? We’re a 2 person department at a just below Fortune 500, so I touch just about everything

Investor relations is usually where people land mid to late career, right? It seems like a great landing spot but I’m not sure if you can build a rounded skill set or not if you are at a larger company where you might be siloed. Could be wrong though
Yeah I’d say that is atypical to be in IR this early and it’s usually more a landing spot. I feel as though I’m getting pretty well-rounded skillset, except no opportunity to develop people. Very lean department. Makes wonder if I’m short circuiting my development, would hate to leave a job I like to learn team leadership
If you’re happy, continue looking around other Investor Relations roles at other companies. The only close parallel would be Corp FP&A
