I work in the R&D industry as a supply chain planner in engineering research so basically support quite interesting projects. However, I feel like I am not learning anything and if I continue to stay here I won’t build any real skills which may make it difficult for me to move up in my career or get a job elsewhere after spending x amount of time altogether. Any advice or guidance is appreciated. Thank you

Since you're in R&D, write yourself into operations projects that put you into learning situations (especially those that are in the field) that are relative to your work, add more direct insight into your work, and expands your network for other future opportunities that can benefit your interest to learn. Unless you will take on a formal learning platform, there is no better teaching mechanism than getting involved with what is perpetually occurring in one's company, market, industry, country, and the world.

Ever consider pursuing professional certifications like CPIM or CSCP to boost your skills and resume?

find the pain points of your company, where they need to improve in the SChain domain and propose your services by explaining how you can help on it. Analyze where they can prevent to lose money or do different to bring more money and why having you doing this will help (economy of new hiring, no consulting, decrease of stock levels (your CFO will LOVE this one) etc …)
You can ask for a training to mind the gap if there is one.
The company goals is to stay in business and makes money. Is if they don’t want to, ask for a training you have nothing to lose.
A change of department can be discussed too

I am stuck in IR purgatory. I hate IR. I started off my career ten years ago as a deal guy. Then my firm asked me to shoulder IR responsibilities as well. Now I am finding each job I change to promise “you will do both IR and deals” but it’s always a lie. The firms just want a fundraiser. Deal people are more plentiful. How do I get out of this trap?

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

I’ve worked at the same firm for almost 5 years. I’ve received an end of year bonus of varying sizes- my first year, my paycheck was doubled. The last 3 years, I’ve received 25k-30k bonuses. This year I received a bonus in April (20k) and one in July (15k) but I still expected an end of year bonus. I didn’t get it even though this has been my most profitable year yet. Should I just assume those earlier bonuses were INSTEAD of an end of year bonus or should I ask my boss?
