I worked for a startup for the last 2 years as a software developer. I was making $47,000, and when I told the CEO i felt that I was worth more, he told me that I think I’m underpaid because I’m a woman. He also told another coworker of mine that she needed to be in a meeting because of her “sex appeal”. This was all over call, nothing in writing. When I brought this up with my manager he said “CEO is a boomer, he says boomer things”. Is this type of sexism common? Any legalities with that?

I was making $40,000 as a developer (plus 20k stock options at $1/share per year) and they refused to pay me any more money. I have 17,000 vested stock options, total number of shares at the time of my contract was 4million. Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.
