Congrats on the new job and getting away from that jerk! Your coworker especially has possible case - but leaving for something better is probably the best possible solution for you.
And it’s not unusual for (especially older) men to be sexist in the workplace. That’s why there are so many lawsuits

2b - I’m not following your comment. I was generalizing about both - age and gender.
To be more clear to OPs question, yes sexism is common. Especially in some groups.
So my comment is discriminatory, but not hypocritical
Thank goodness you’re out of there! This has “wrong” written all over it.
Good job on the new role.
Mentor
1. You were/are very underpaid
2. This is not okay behavior. It is discriminatory and you should be able to file a claim with your local labor department and/or file a civil suit.
3. It is anecdotally more common behavior for older generations, but sexism is present amongst the younger generations too
CSO 1, sincerely, everything you said was unhelpful.
I should add (I ran out of words) that I’ve left the company for a company that offered me $90k (yay!). When I told them my new salary my manager said that “I’d probably be capped at that salary for a few years” 🤦♀️
They might have meant capped due to internal company policies.
Uhhhhh yuck. I hate the "boomers will be boomers." I'd be looking elsewhere
You're being taken advantage of by a jerk
Prediction: The startup is going to fail because the CEO (and maybe even manager) will get in the news for sexual harassment. Or at least be pushed out by the board of directors prior to IPO. It’s happened often so don’t feel bad leaving.

And fail because they will lose all their decent talent

How awful I am sorry this is happening. Revamp your resume and get out of there Developers are in high demand do your market research based on your experience and education. Make a list of companies you’re interested in and look up company reviews online.
You’re underpaid and being discriminated against.
Congrats on your new job.
Now go see an employment lawyer. You got sexually harassed, and so did your coworker.
so you've left the company and doubled your salary, yet you're coming here to post, why? you complain about sexism in your post, but are quick to be ageist by calling him a boomer and generalizing older people. You have put that into writing. it's unclear what you hope to gain from this post?
Sex appeal…seriously. That doesn’t sound like a boomer comment, that sounds like a creepy old man comment. It might common talk, but I don’t think it’s appropriate and he shouldn’t get away with it. Disgusting.
As a victim of startup fraud we all need to put an end to this. Let me guess they always told you they were going to be the next big thing and making rubbish salaries would be worth it in the end? I’m tired of startups doing this to people and getting away with it.
Same. They always talk about “when” we make it big not “if”. I had the change the narrative myself
Personally i dont like workers who like to have “things in writing”, especially not if they plan to use this against the team. Remember that you work for a startup; the founder should be edgy, direct and competent. Nowadays everything is acceptable, except neurodiversity that is typical for many startup leaders.
Jesus Christ. That is all I have to say here.
Not okay.. this is nuts
