Hi, new here.
Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

Just came here to say thank you. I don’t work in this area or geographic market but you’ve done your fellow attorneys a real service.
Here’s who left that nasty vm:

Send this to Above The Law. Younger associates should be warned. I am sorry this happened to you.
It’s extremely bizarre as an article. The author looks like he yells at people to be fair. They probably were threatened with a lawsuit so they decided to write that pos article

Further, they are not respected by other firms in the industry and the training is nonexistent. They have 99% associate turnover in the past three years and are desperately trying to hire (to be fair so are other firms in their position due to the recent market conditions).
Here is a snippet of what you can expect if you can’t work a weekend because of unavoidable travel plans: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19YZ9qfqLugGBzfTE9-jUwXuzaqbVaEYt/view?usp=drivesdk
Doesn’t NY have an anti-bullying statute?
You can tell she screams often since her voice is so hoarse.
Or she has a 3 packs a day smoking habit and still hasn’t learned to chill LOL
Send this to ATL. More effective than reporting to the bar
Didn’t turn out to be a case. A bar complaint should be next, and the bar complaint should also be against the name partners too for being aware of the behavior and doing nothing
From what I remember from an earlier post, OP is a midlevel not second year (partner couldn’t keep track) and already gave 2 weeks notice a week before the email. The partner refused to staff another attorney on the deal and demanded OP give up their weekend (this happened every week regardless of whether there was a closing)
Transcript (tried to incorporate the ~emotion~):
Hi, it’s -partner’s name-. I want you to know, number one, you have burned EVERY. SINGLE. FUCKING. bridge with me. I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Whatever you did—you don’t tap out as a FUCKING second year associate at 10 o clock on a Friday night. That’s number one. Number two—I don’t care what you want. Number THREE, you work has been basically been SHIT from the start and nobody wanted to let you go, because, you know, it’s hard to hire people? But I think you suck, -other partner’s name— think you suck, -another partner’s name— think you suck, other people you suck—think you suck, so. You suck. FUCK YOU!!!
Thank you for posting this. Culture only changes if we call out the assholes and raise up the good men and women in our profession.
ABSOLUTELY.
Abusive partners be forewarned - this generation will NOT tolerate the abuse. As in-house counsel, I refuse to send work to any firm that condones this type of behavior.

Me too!
(Unless my GC makes me.)
Can we call her and tell her that she sucks, that everyone thinks she sucks, and fuck you?
Literally everyone on his thread should just call her every day doing this. Her phone would be nonstop. It would be perfect.
How dare a second year tap out at 730 on Friday night?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:30 PM on Friday? That’s not even unreasonable

I’m trying to find an explanation of how something like this unfolds in the absence of the partner being an utter arrogant douche.
Best I can come up with is:
Team is under a tight deadline and cranking to get something filed. 2nd year knows this and knows everyone else is working late on this project and has been told that this is one of those rare times that they’ll need to work deep into the night and through the weekend for this important project to be completed. Notwithstanding that, 2nd year elects to opt out and go about their lives and leaves others holding the bag on the project which cannot be completed without all hands on deck.
I’m envisioning myself in this partner’s position under those circumstances. At that point, I might even be able to understand her frustration.
But I don’t understand the expression of that frustration in this way absent her having had way too many cocktails herself.
And to be clear, I’m not suggesting that my scenario is what unfolded. I’m just trying to imagine a scenario that might leave me feeling frustrated enough to lose my shit (and, as noted, if I lost my shit, I still wouldn’t leave this voicemail).
Last point: absent this being found out via this platform, I bet she wouldn’t even be embarrassed by her behavior after the fact.
No explanation even remotely justifiable. Don’t care how stressed partner is. No place for that language and arrogance. It’s abusive. Report her.
Any first year in NYC who accepts a job in securities at $100k a year knows what they are getting. They are not top tier candidates. They are accepting far less money and longer hours to get into a top tier practice (and to avoid insurance defense or PI) and hope to leverage that experience to get into a better firm later.
Week late but just have to comment on this. Not everyone is afforded the PRIVILEGE to be offered prestigious jobs right out of law school. There are lots of reasons someone may not go to a top tier school and, consequently, will not have the same opportunities as those who do. OP likely accepted this position because they wanted to eventually have the experience to even possibly get to a prestigious firm in the future. Get a grip.
Can someone please post a transcription of the VM?

holy shit. wtffffff
Absolutely unhinged. In addition to ATL, I'd say share with managing partner as well, but I'm guessing that would unfortunately be completely useless.
I read in another post on this bowl that it was shared with the name partners like a month ago and they ignored it.

Btw for reporting people for ethics.

I get the logic here (cleanse the profession, etc) but I can’t see imperiling someone’s livelihood over something that caused little/no lasting harm. OP got his public reckoning, the score has been evened. We can be the bigger party and move on with our lives.
Definitely report this to the bar.
I’ve worked at multiple V10s and logging off at 7 (noting it may have been 10, voicemail unclear) ON A FRIDAY is totally normal, even for a “fucking second year”
Unless the deal is signing/closing that night or overnight/Saturday morning, no one is required to be online that late… even a second year.
