Suit is always the safest and when interviewed for my jd preferred roles I always wear a suit.
It’s probably not advisable to wear something other than a suit to an interview unless the employer expressly says you don’t need to wear a suit.
You want people to focus on you not what you are wearing so suit is best choice
I've always worn a black suit with a blouse or shell. It's worked every time. No need to reinvent the wheel.
I think this is a hard question to pose in a law group. For any attorney position, if i had to interview tmr id still wear a black or blue suit. I have no idea what id wear to a JD preferred role. Maybe suit paints and then a different slightly stylish jacket from like Ann Taylor or something?
I’ve been wearing shift dresses with a jacket of some sort for at least the past decade.
Oh I agree on stockings. I wear tights when it’s cold but couldn’t not tell you the last time I wore stockings. It’s been decades. Some employers are more old fashioned or conservative than others tho. I couldn’t t work in that environment either!
I always wear a heel though. To me it looks more polished and professional.
I have interviewed 4 female associates in the last year and none have worn a suit. One was in a sleeveless black mock turtleneck with patterned grey pants, another wore a black boat neck sweater and warm brown pants, one wore a Navy full shoulder sleeveless dress and I can't recall what the last one wore.
I say don't overthink it. Wear whatever you are confident in.
