If a company offers me $55k for an AutoCad entry drafting role and I have 1-2 years of prior relevant experience, is it reaching to ask for the average between $65k-$72k. I am living in Orange County, CA for context.

You can ask for more, but if that's what they're offering you might get some resistance asking for a bump of at least 10 grand. The current job market is creating the effect of pushing salaries downward, as companies know they can make lowball offers and someone will accept. That dynamic may be at play, as the firm may feel confident making such a low offer as there are more applicants than positions. In any event, make a good case for yourself, talk up your experience and note what you can bring to the company, and you might be able to get them to go higher. It's definitely worth a shot.

That’s a bit of a hike

So…if anyone knows of or is hiring in the food contract management area or something where my skills could transfer, hit me up!

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice
