It doesn’t work like that. We have a separate experienced hire BA track.
There is no “have to wait x time” at McKinsey. If you have mastered the toolkit in your role, people will begin providing you opportunities to work on the next role. BAs make EM as soon as 1.5 years or as long as 4 years. And your pay isn’t tied to your role, it’s based on your performance against your tenure.
All experienced hire BAs come in with the same comp (similar to 2nd/3rd year BA comp). You don’t negotiate tenure. Our promotion / designation timeline is flexible, so you can make EM depending on your own situation.
“Second year” Ba isn’t really a thing like it is at big four. Your offer would be as an experienced hire BA and TC would be higher than someone from undergrad campus recruiting to account for your yoe.
Separately the promotion timeline is different from at big4 such that being a “second year” doesn’t really matter. Out of undergrad you can make EM at 2+6 or at 1+6 it all depends on the person. Subsequently as an experienced hire you’ll probably take on responsibility faster but your time to EM promotion will be a function of your performance not of your tenure
Actually in my case, the office is hiring only at the Fellow level. So it would be 1 Year Fellow + 3 Years BA till the Associate without considering need to do MBA or an extra year as BA.
Middle East. Okay, but then it takes 4 Years to finalize your BA track. Is it the same in your office? Or it usually takes 3?
