Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Should I take this role?
Pros: 50k bump, company is full remote, no time tracking software, unlimited PTO, 10k in quarterly bonuses, vertical move in responsibility and title, will set me up for future roles in different companies with the title I am looking for (so strategic move)

Cons: Its a startup, the solution they offer is adjacent my desired industry, its a very small team so I wouldn’t be necessarily grow my network, tech stipend for new laptop (but they don’t provide a work one)

Hi Fishes, I was hired by Optum as Tableau Developer in June 2021. One year passed and I was just doing support and maintenance work on Tableau dashboards (no new development). Now the company wants me to work on Power BI and convert all dashboards into it. I want to make my career in Tableau and I don't want to work on Power BI as I find it hard as compared to Tableau also less interesting. So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot.
