If I've maxed out my TFSA, should I continue investing through an RRSP or a personal investment account?

For context, I also have a good pension. My main concern is that while the RRSP will be nice to lower my taxable income now, I'm worried when I retire I'll have to withdraw too much from both the RRSP and pension. Thoughts?

Can i ask what you define as a “good” pension?

It's a government pension. The issue is I have like 35 years until retirement, and I don't know if I'll stay in government my entire career or not. So I'm not sure what my income will look like in retirement.

There was an episode on TorStar's Millennial Money podcast that discussed government pensions and saving. The episode is about "Alex", it might be worth a listen for you.
I believe the general conclusion was that if you have a very good pension from work already, it's not nearly as necessary for you to save for retirement via RRSP as it would be for any regular workers. You can consider putting money elsewhere for your savings.

Thanks I will check it out!

Is there a way to get closer to the 58000 total contribution limits in a 401k after initial contributions up the 19500 limit? My employer match isn’t great but I’ve maxed out my contributions this year and they’ve only added an additional 1500 so I’ll be at 21k total in the account for the year. I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice with regards to my next career step. Currently in audit and I have opportunities to go for a Valuations role or an FDD role (both big 4).
