My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India
I recently joined TCS but I was moved into very different project which was told during hiring. Also they told me for joining incentive but later after 65 days of joining they didn't give saying your business aproval got rejected. I really want to be with TCS but due to project dissatisfaction, I am looking for different job. I am not sure if I can leave the organisation soo soon(4 months) and it should not effect my carrier.

Did you put a clause that specified an extra fee for weekend/overtime hours in the contract? Or mentioned in the contract this is the project rate, but only includes Mon-Fri work? Otherwise, there’s not much wiggle room. That’s why clients love booking talent at a flat project rate so it’s all-in-one no matter weekday or weekend.
Great reply.
If it’s not in the scope of what you agreed to, tell them your hourly weekend rate and go from there.
They caught you trippin’. Just suck it up and do the job you agreed to do and let it be a lesson for the next time you discuss rates and contracts.

Was there a contract that said weekend work is expected?
If not, then as long as you get the project done by the deadline, you’re fulfilling your part of the agreement.
Say you’re still going to get it done, but are unavailable on the weekends. Then see if they offer you more money.
This has happened to me and suddenly more budget miraculously appeared.

Just play dumb and say it was a miscommunication. Make them feel bad. You’re creative and they can’t force you to have ideas. If it was a factory job this would be different.

Ideally, a project fee should be beneficial to both you and the agency. Your fee should be based on the work delivered as agreed and not for time worked. This also allows you to get the work done at your own pace, not have to worry about timesheets, and double dip if you can handle both workloads.
If on the other hand, the client said we can only pay you X for the week vs for the project, then it’s up to you to clarify whether you’ll be working weekends at that rate.
