If I got paid overtime I’d be rich
Have no one explain things to do you over ping, everyone has to call you when they have task for you
Get rid of a mandatory number of hours to charge a week. It discourages working efficiently. If I get a job done quickly I don’t get to chill, but just get thrown on a job that’s performing poorly.
This 💯 getting thrown some abitrary minimum charge goal is an excuse to throw projects at you for no reason

Fire 75% of HR so we stop getting those spammy wellness emails and snail mail and use that money for across the board pay increases
Our HR doubled in headcount in the past five years when almost every other team is maintaining the same headcount if not reducing it.
Ditch timesheets
- Slash the amount of admin I have to do. I swear I do more admin that real client delivery billable work.
- recruit at more competitive schools. Likely have to pay more. Fine, why can’t we pay more for better talent? See one of the comments above.

I worked at a regional firm that gave overtime pay. Management could see through those “milking it” and gave those people much lower raises and they didn’t get promoted. Also if you were a huge rockstar you got a discretionary bonus on top of overtime pay. Problem solved!
Upward feedback to allow individuals to provide honest feedback on those they work for.
My firm has it, but the person has to request it from someone below them so of course no one is that honest.
I would have people write down instructions/write better documentation so I’m not wasting time trying to figure out where to find things/trying to remember YOY. It’s appalling to me when my seniors don’t even know where to find something they worked on for several years.
Better coaching and mandatory therapy once a month
Seniors and managers could actually have the time to coach!
As a Director trust that what I am asking to have done is necessary - both up the chain and down it.
Pay overtime
Work in tax - would be great if i didn’t have to look at state tax returns and tons of random tax forms
Have it so that everyone knew how to properly use a computer, especially Excel and whatever data analytics platform (PBI, Tableau, etc) that's being used at the firm.
... Oh and a firm that actually has current technology that can be used by professionals instead of limiting it's usefulness in almost every way possible
Better training on how to use the basic applications, the applicable audit methodology, and accounting updates. More real-world type retaining exercises. Can’t keep explaining what/why a walkthrough is to staff!

Give more power to the line partners to make decisions and not so much interference from the America’s with all of their rules and policies that make zero sense for our teams. Or at the very least, get our input.
More realistic charge hour goals
