Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

We have someone better than you on the hook, but if they don't workout you will do.
They're just not that into you.
Don't overthink it. It's a process. They have other candidates to see. Then a decision. Even if they loved you they would still continue the process to hedge their bets.
You should do the same...
...
As just exactly that
Unless they say they want to move forward, or ask you to hold on, or some kind of behavior that shows they actively want you, I interpret that as a No. When a company knows they want you they work to keep you. That's not saying they *don't* want you, but it's like a relationship: you kind of want to be wanted, for sure, not if someone else doesn't work out. That leaves room for you to act based on how it feels, of course.
It means they're secretly in love with you and wanna go to prom.
JK JK IT MEANS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS. The recruiter has no time to play mind games and wouldn't give two shits about messing with your head even if they did. Just put it out of your mind and move on, and if you get a call, great. They're still interviewing 'cause they wanna be thorough and get the best candidate, like everybody else.
It's a "no" or what someone said above, they have someone they REALLY want, but you are the backup. Either way it's not fantastic, though it could still end with an offer, though unlikely.
