If your current salary is around 120k and you get a new 100k work-from-home offer, what would you choose? From my experience, office work gives better pay and teamwork, but commuting takes time and energy. Work from home improves balance and focus. In your opinion, which matters more today—money, peace of mind, flexibility, or long-term growth?

That could be a dilemma. There are a lot of savings when you're working remotely, and not having to spend time and effort commuting is a huge plus. Yet when I worked remotely years ago I found it pretty isolating, so I honestly don't know if I'd want to return to it. And I always think people who work remotely are putting themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to getting promotions. Even though remote work seems attractive, I might opt to stay in office, make more money, and perhaps have a more promising future.

like

Idk how people find it isolating. This has been my life since 2017 and I would t trade it for anything. My dogs get to not be kenneled all day. I’m able to make meals for my spouse. See him after work. And on days I’m not feeling well I can literally work from bed.

like

I would definitely take the work-from-home offer if it's only a $20,000 difference. I feel like I spend that much or more in commuting, paying for lunches, and all of the other costs associated with being in the office. I definitely prioritize my peace of mind and flexibility over almost anything.

like

I always liked it but had a hard time keeping a division between work and life. Now I have a 20 minute commute that gives solid boundaries.

In this market, m taking the money and the inertia with an existing job. I’ve had too many friends take new jobs lately and then laid off within 6-9 months.

like

They moved to the newly established company

If the commute isn’t too far then I wouldn’t mind but if it’s over an hour, then I would take the WFH job.

like

Its not too far

Your salary should cover all your costs & expenditures, that’s it…then choose your job based on growth, aspirations, work life balance, team etc. If 100k covers all your costs and the other job aspects weigh up better working from home then go for it but if you need a team around you, you need to be in an office… if you are lonely working from home, being paid 200k a year won’t make it better!

like

Then why are you asking what we would choose. You sound like you wanna work in office. Then clearly decline the wfh job.

like

Work from home. I’ve been working from home for over 10 years now. Going into an office is an absolute deal breaker for me

like

Work from home for me—I can spend extra time working out, doing side projects, etc. if it was a $40k difference, then I would definitely go into the office

PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?

I'm an accounts receivable expert with 8+ yrs of experience. I started with 96k per annum in 2014, and have worked with 4 different MNCs since then. Currently I'm getting approx 9Lpa, and it feels like I'm pretty much stuck here. Switching jobs increases the pay scale, while staying for a while reflects stability.

When I look at the other member's comments here, it seems majority of folks are earning 20-30Lpa or even more.

Any suggestions from mature audience to achieve a big pay raise.
