Hey Fishbowl community! I currently work as a Sales Support Specialist with 3 YOE working at a SaaS company. My dream career is to work at Microsoft or Google. I am open to different opportunities that exceed 80k+ per year. I also have a BA in Business Admin. If anyone can refer me to a great remote position I would greatly appreciate it! 😀
I am currently pursuing a position to be a 401k workplace planning consultant with Fidelity Investments. I would like to connect with someone who has gone through that training and early hiring process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the position. This is specifically for the Raleigh/Durham NC area if possible.

Generally, I think only high performers do well in M&A. I would probably highlight that as well as an appreciation for the technical aspects of the job.
That's helpful thanks!
Don't expect to jump into a manager role. It's possible you could make a lateral move but that is the exception, not the norm.
Mentor
I think a compliance background in m&a is good. Market is hit right now too. Everyone needs managers. They might make you come in as a S3 but you will probably get paid more as a senior in m&a than a manager 1 in compliance.
Coach
Can you concisely describe why you want to join m&a? (Apart from more money).
How strong would you describe your technical skills? Just as a very basic question, can you describe (in 1-2 sentences) each type of merger?
Do you know what m&a folks do? (This is key, you really need to have a good idea about this).
Provision experience is always good but it’s not like you’ll be reviewing provisions on a diligence project anyways.
I'm in Northeast :)
Can you ask for a rotation opportunity internally? I was able to sell it to my partners by discussing my role in the tax accounting/consulting for each transaction (which were part of my normal compliance projects) I’ve worked on recently, and which areas I’m interested in learning more about.
I think doing a rotation internally is probably the easier route. I did mine earlier in my career and successfully transferred.
Have you ever thought about international tax? It is very technical and has consulting projects too. Work time is more seasonal and predictable than MA tax.
You clearly don’t like any semblance of work-life balance.
