One of my favorite podcasts did an episode on Adderall. Most of the info won’t be new, but there were some interesting snippets in there. I also thought it was a useful educational resource to share with your family and friends.

Well now we see why…
🤣
I’m sorry to hear, this is stressful, I’ve been in the same situation many years ago. I’m taking it that your boss did NOT instruct you to report into that EP, right? Is she/he even assigned any aspect of your project? If the answer is no, then you should meet with your boss to iron it out. If you need to drag that EP into the meeting, (hopefully not), then so be it. You could also send a simple/careful email to your boss asking them to confirm that you’re the only one assigned to the project. That’s all you need to show later if that other person keeps inserting themselves. Hoping you find a smooth way to navigate this.
That’s annoying.
It’s also part of freelancing in my experience. You are almost always outside the structure no matter how much more qualified you are than others. And I do think it’s understandable that the person running the account would want to be aware of what’s going on.
That said, it sounds like this ep is also trying to make sure she’s vital and involved- and is possibly insecure (they are bringing in other people her level to do the work).
I think one of the things that makes a good freelancer who works a lot is the skill of balancing the politics with getting it done. If it helps, one advantage of freelancing is you get to care about stuff less than if you’re full time. It’s hard not to take it personally, but if she’s adding more time to your day, just make sure you’re getting paid for it.
Effectively. She does my budgets and my calendars! If find her actions infantilizing, controlling, and smothering. I’ve never had a supervisor like this. As a producer with over 20 years of experience I’m very capable of doing all these things. She’s intending to attend my shoot also. Part of me thinks I should talk to her or to the HOP (again). The other part of me thinks “fuck it”, I’m making money, it’s freelance, I’m not here to go staff, and if she wants to do all of my work as well as hers then go right ahead. What would you do?
