I’m a product designer hoping to switch industries from the public sector to private. I am struggling because I’m seeing a lot of pushback on the fact that I don’t have industry specific work. I’m really curious how much working in a specific industry effects your career path.

What will the project dynamics be on a project staffed with 3mdps, a PL, and myself, a summer UG intern? Just got staffed and will be hearing more on Monday from the team, but it came across as an interesting staffing composition.
Have the feeling I'll be making quite a few slides as the only junior. Anyone staffed on a similar case composition?

You can describe it away in your portfolio/case studied with how you used private industry standards to push public sector work into a more profitable, modern yada yada.
I've switched industries so often that at this point I can explain it away as good design and excellent user experiences are universal and not industry specific.
100% agree with this - I think if you explain it well and can connect it back, you won't get as much of pushback. It might be worth doing some kind of interview coaching if that's the kind of response you're getting to help you craft the right story?
you should look into people ops at google. lots of ux/ui work happening there
