I had the same problem with someone on my team. I took them to lunch, acknowledged our sisterhood, and laid out my expectations going forward. Just remember to be kind and clear with your communication. If she has an issue with it, then working with you is not for her 😏
Have you communicated and documented her performance goals? Does she know she is being evaluated? If there's a gap between her goals and her performance, help her create an action plan with resources and training to bridge the gap. You can also recommend a communications or professionalism course to help her. GL
Yes - I have been here. And posted about something similar last yr. The two black members of my team were the lowest performing and were also too casual with me about delayed deliverables etc. It didn't end well because when I did give constructive feedback (which aligned with what other non-black leaders were saying but would not tell them directly) they became upset with me and it caused some resentment. It got to the point where I could tell other team members felt like I was letting their behavior slide. One of them was wanting to go up for promotion and I gave them a stretch opportunity to support that but they did not deliver at the next level. I think the expectation was that I would support promo regardless because we are both POCs. It's a tricky situation usually- I have had many lessons learned myself. One was not getting too comfortable/setting better boundaries while still leaning in and being supportive of other POCs that I want to succeed.
