I’m at the point where I don’t even want a promotion if it just means more billables and no real raise. There’s nothing motivating about climbing a ladder that doesn’t actually lead anywhere. I’d rather be honest about what I want than keep pretending it’s prestige.

Looking to exit from 195k base to a sales role base 140 + 40 in guaranteed bonus year 1 to make up for the lengthy sales cycle. I know in the long run total comp through equity and sales commission bonus can be much higher but having a hard time making the jump… mostly my ego to drop drastically in TCO the first year after spending all these years trying to increase base. Phone Screens, Zoom Interview with hiring manager, Face to face with hiring manager. (Then asked for professional references) , impromptu Zoom meet with other leader who was completely disengaged. Then boom... six weeks of silence vague texts from hiring manager they were still going thru the process..

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer?
