Always get job descriptions in writing. If you have this you can ask your manager “Has my position changed? Am I being promoted?” If the scope of work has drastically changed then it time to move up or out if pay does not match. Find a new job. Once you have an offer letter, you can negotiate a new position where you are and leave. As an administrator it’s a job that is undervalued and companies don’t realize how important and versatile we are until gone or about to leave. Its always best to have a back up option when negotiating to use as leverage.
Best Reply ever!! Cheers to that! We are the pillars of the company! I agree, if you're not getting paid more, better benefits, not learning, Time to move on! And that's OK! 💯

Good for you for wanting to set those boundaries! In my first EA role, I didn't recognize the importance of doing that, and by the time I left the company, I was doing at least four jobs and working six days a week, half the time it would spill into day 7. Depending on the person who I'd asking me and what they are asking for, I'll usually say one of the following:
- I need to focus on my current responsibilities, and taking on additional tasks would impact the quality of my work
-I'm not able to take on that task as it falls outside of my job scope, but I can assist with finding someone who would be better suited to help.
I like your responses. My boss wants me to interview clinical staff about their knowledge of downtime procedures…I know nothing about that because I am NOT a clinical staff member. I have contacted HR, but they were no help. I have stated obvious, logical reasons why this task should not be assigned to me. She “wants to talk about it further”, which means she fully intends to dump this in my lap. I’m an honest, hard-working, conscientous person. I always give more than I am paid for, and I don’t want to get into trouble, but this is WRONG! What do I do now?
