I have both. Much prefer the CSR, the Amex benefits/points are a pain. For example, the airline fee credits apply to pretty much nothing useful
I got the AmEx Platinum but won’t renew next year. There’s a bunch of strings attached to the rewards multipliers and I never got them.
Downgrade to Slate since it’s a useless card. If you downgrade to freedom, you can’t apply for one and thus won’t be eligible for the free points for spending $x in first few months
$100 credit at Saks Fifth Avenue just got added.
Ya I really like the platinum. The centurion lounges are miles better than the airline lounges. Delta lounges also a nice to have.
@TSC1 - I buy AA gift cards with the platinum. (Usually in $50 clips)
P1, yep I do something similar now. Still a pain because you can't use gift cards for award fees/taxes (as one example), I rarely book non-work revenue flights.
I think the value prop of the Amex Platinum was way better when they had the United workaround to get Amazon gift cards - still mad they took that away 🤔
