Start with Miami, if you’re serious about wanting to live there you gotta test it out for the summer see how you can fare against the heat index, humidity, etc. San Diego is much more stable in terms of temp

It’s not a few k, it’s up to like 10% difference + COL differences. It’s a huge financial benefit to be in Miami vs Cali.
You said the politics suck, that’s fine, that’s subjective.
As someone born and raised Miami, I am never outdoors in the summer unless I’m at the beach. Can’t speak to racism towards blacks, but certainly none towards we Latinos here, luckily

Start in Miami since it's hottest and more humid there plus you'll get summer rain season. so you'll experience living in those extremes. SD is more mild and less rainy.
Note that in Miami you'll experience the first part of hurricane season, but not the tail. I think most major storms have been trending toward end of the hurricane season, but I may be wrong.

BCG1 - 30A area? Might be my 2nd favorite part of Florida besides Captiva/Sanibel

Miami better for living, San Diego better for temporary stay in the summer IMO.
Miami will have tax benefits, and culture is better (international, etc). But if just for the summer then probably San Diego (will likely be cooler weather)

Miami is the best city in the US, all in all, but a 3 month stay in the summer is different
I can see how that could be beneficial - thanks M2

If you wind up liking Florida, but not Miami SoFla, try out St. Pete / Tampa.
Miami. CA homeless issue is out of control and weather and fun is awesome in Fl and no state income taxes🌈
