I’m in digital planning/buying. Do people need to get a masters at some point to keep progressing in their careers? What type of careers (needed for client side?) is an MBA helpful for down the line?

Don’t do it. Experience is valued more.

You definitely do not need any sort of masters degree to progress to the top in media

Experience matters more. That being said an MBA might bring you more opportunities if you want to get in to a different field.

like

MBA if you definitely want to go client (brand) side, otherwise it's not necessary to move up

Don't do it from my experience. Survey positions you wanted to have in LinkedIn, see what those people in those position have.

At some point it’s about your experience and performance that will be the key driver of growth potential.

MBAs help some people but others not at all. The head of the whole media dept has an MBA but the dept heads do not. D Wills doesn’t have an MBA but his lieutenants mostly do. For client side it helps with some positions for marketing but not others

I would take on someone with demonstrated results and experience over someone with an MBA, any day. If you move overseas then an MBA can be very useful in the approval process, but not essential.

Here's a situation. I have been selected to join as a manager at a big four entity. While the HR seems to be fine with the hike and the overall package, the senior/management in the team/project seems to be unhappy with the same. Not sure if the offer might go ahead with a lower package or might not go through at all. The general understanding is that the HR takes a call on packages. Is it different at the big four?

Posted in Big 4 bowl but reposting here: Looking to move into a general Consulting Staff/Business Transformation/Strategy position mid-late 2022. Was eyeing a Summer/Fall 2022 Business Transformation Staff position at EY in particular, but it has dropped off. Any idea of when positions like that will typically open up across most firms? Want to get in early, open to any firm. I do not have an MBA, but I am client facing and work in commercial markets currently. TYIA!

Grateful for my support system. I burst into tears during a zoom call with a project leader today. He said the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me in years. A quick catch-up turned into a therapy session.

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
